Funeral of Gatsby

Chapter 9 is Gatsby's Funeral. In this chapter we learn that the wealth only care about themselves. All of the wealthy people who had been at Gatsby's parties dont even attend his funeral. The people in east were just so morally corrupted. This is so shocking to Nick that he moves back to West Egg. The corruption of morals is not only a main theme in this chapter but the whole book. Nick judged all of the characters in the book and he felt like the wealthy people were morally corrupt. Daisy was morally corrupt, she was very close to Gatsby, and she didn't even recognize that he died, she didn't pay any kind of services. The wealthy people in this novel seems to have their priorities very mixed up. "Daisy hadn't sent a message or flowers" (183) "About 5 o clock our procession of three cars reached the cemetery and stopped in a thick drizzle besides the gate" (182) These two quotes show that they really dont care much about Gatsby
