Gatsby Shot!

In chapter 8 we learn the surprising death of Gatsby. Gatsby is shot to death by Wilson, who though Gatsby had an affair with Myrtle (his wife) and then killed her. Wilson thinks this because he had seen Gatsby fill his yellow car with gas prior to death of Myrtle. I almost expected Gatsby to die, however not like this. Gatsby was always a mysterious person. I wouldn't even be surprised if he had a few dead bodies somewhere in his mansion. I also think that people may have been jealous of him, he had everything, wealth, girls, social life. "It was after we started with Gatsby toward the house that the gardener saw Wilson's body a little way off in the grass, and the holocaust was complete" (162) This quote represents the body of Wilson, after he shot himself. Seems like Wilson was extremely depressed over the death of his wife and was out to seek revenge. He was even willing to cross the line by killing himself. Myrtle must have met everything to Wilson. What a surprising way to end the chapter, and life of Gatsby.

  1. Surprising, yes. Elaborate though. How do you feel each character ended up? Are they satisfied? Was justice served. Great work with picture accompaniment.
