Gatsby vs Tom

Seems like there was a lot of argument between the two during the final chapters. Tom goes off on Gatsby and mocks his habit of calling people "old sports", and accuses that he lied about going to Oxford. He then accuses him of running a bootleg operation, and sends Gatsby home, knowing he just beat him. I think that Tom was very mad at Gatsby for trying to steal his wife from him, as well as Gatsby always acting suspicious around him. After all of this Daisy admits that she is in love with Tom and not Gatsby. Gatsby realizes that he just waisted all of those years trying to pursue Daisy. I feel very bad for Gatsby because he had just spent all of those years trying to go after the women he loved, and he tried to gain wealth and move up on the social ladder just to try and impress Daisy. Gatsby can now live a normal life, a life he has probably been wanting to live for years. Without Daisy to impress, I assume that Gatsby wont throw anymore parties. Gatsby has a very lonely live ahead of him.
